Black Bamboo

Black Bamboo is an installation made from 90 bamboo poles. The bamboo is arranged freely to a framework that forms an abstract cubic shape.
The cube is not massive, but only indicated by the framework. There is no clear boundary between the inside and outside. The shape only comes into existence within our heads. 
Black Bamboo is accessible and invites visitors to walk or climb through it. While we are used to move horizontally on a plane, within the framework we can move in all three directions. Different routes allow everybody to participate according to their capabilities and likings. This way the visitors can experience space as a logical construct in a playful and unusual manner.
Black Bamboo was awarded 1st prize and was on display at Toronto Waterfront from January 18th to March 18th 2018 together with 4 other installations at Ice Breakers exhibition.
