2408 WAS INVITED AS THE FIRST LECTURER AT NEW SERIES AT GAD

2408 WAS INVITED AS THE FIRST LECTURER AT NEW SERIES AT GAD

18.11.2017 |

On November 17th 2017, 2408’s director Bennet Marburger and general manager Dr. ZHANG Ji were invited by the Research & Create Centre of gad to give a speech at gad’s office in Hangzhou. Their presentation with the title Prefabrication—Two examples from Europe took up on the latest trends and developments of prefabricated building in Europe.

As the first lecturers of the program did (design interaction developing) they shared a short history of prefabrication in Europe and an overview over contemporary prefabrication systems, followed by an elaboration from planning to construction of a research building in Basel and a middle school in Bavaria. Following the presentation lecturers and participants exchanged their experiences, opinions and prospects on prefabrication in casual discussion.

In Europe prefabrication has undergone a renaissance for almost 10 years; In China however it has developed to a hot spot of the building sector during the last two years. We believe, thanks to a growing implementation of BIM and a progress in the industrial manufacture, the advantages of prefabrication will soon also be seen in China: a very short construction period, clean and quiet building sites and a surpassing quality of building.
